Frida...Devine Trade for Jenn
This is the last of the 9 card challenge I created for Jenn. We will do it again next year and hopefully for years to come. Frida's art is a wonderful source of inspiration and I know that I will continue to pay a loving tribute to her and her art in upcoming projects.
Frida...Look, my love. Trade for Jenn
I so love this self portrait of Frida. I often wonder what she was thinking. In my mind, she calls out to the veiwer to love the simplicity of color and lines. Maybe, that only makes sense to me, but I've used this peice twice and will probably use it again in a project.

Frida no. 1...Trade for Jenn
I'm so loving this Frida tribute. I joined a flickr group today that is filled with "everything Frida". I submitted some of the cards I made, but they have to be approved by the group administrator before they can be posted. There are hundreds of submissions and the ones that I saw are pretty awesome. I'll have to explore that group more deeply and get some artsy inspiration.
Frida...Alter no. 2, closed...Trade for Jenn
I've finished a few of my Frida ATCs for the 9 card challenge I'm doing with Jenn. This card has 3 segments to it, the side panels close and fasten with a length of twine.

fresh - Traded!
Loving Frida.
On another flickr journey... came across this beautiful ATC created by Artaha.com. Frida has inspired so many people to create art with her image, proving our fascination with her and her artistic journey. Jenn J. and I are working on our own 9 card ATC challenge using Frida's image and art for inspiration. We plan on doing this same challenge next year, celebrating The Day Of The Dead and the beautiful spirit of Frida Khalo.
So I'll be posting my finished work soon and posting them under the new label I am now creating on my blog titled "Loving Frida". This label will include my work and the work of other creative folks, who are sharing their artistic tribute to Frida on flickr and any where else I happen to come across a Loving Tribute.

Collage a Day Project......July 11, 2010
This is my first finished Collage a Day Project. I was inspired by an article I read in the last issue of Somerset Studio Magazine. What an awesome way to stay creatively motivated. I have a lot of materials on hand and I can easily take a project with me to start on while I'm waiting for my shift to start. For this collage I used a 5x7 art board that my daughter Sara had discarded and some clip art I found on the Internet. The Frida Kahlo clip art didn't print very well on my printer due to being low on a couple of color cartridges. But I didn't want to waste this one so I cut and pasted it to the background Sara had painted and added the yellow dot flowers and the rubber stamped bird. The outer scalloped border is made of card stock and a circle paper punch. To finish it off I attached a length of green rick rack and tied on a small piece of delicate green ribbon. I already have plans for tomorrow's collage. Until then ...Happy Crafting.
