Well I finished my denim handbag. I had a little problem with curve on the side strip and the top stitching was kind of hard to keep nice and straight. Catching the seam allowance under the facing just didn't happen for me so I used a print ribbon to cover my sloppy seam. I also added a small pocket on the inside to put my cell phone in. On the front side I attached two wooded flower charms instead of buttons. It looks homemade and that's the way I like it. I can't wait to start another bag! I could easily become addicted. I still have quite a bit denim left over, maybe enough for 2 more bags!

Awesome book with easy directions

Free-Style Demin Handbag

Today is a great day to start on the denim handbag thats just waiting for me to sew. I found the pattern in this awesome book "Free - Style Handmade Bags and Skirts" from Woonjin Publishing. I fell in love with the bag on the cover. I'm going to attempt to make it in denim. I'm using a different style wooden handle. It's really cute. I haven't worked on a serious project in awhile and I feel a little rusty. I hope it comes out nice. I'll post a picture when I'm done with it. There are a lot of nice handbag projects in this book and the directions are easy to follow. The skirts are more for younger women but I can probably adapt them to my style. Well it's time to get started. Ive got some sewing to do.

Jenn's Title card

pages 9 and 10

pages 7 and 8 with a ATC insert

pages 5 and 6

pages 3 and 4

pages 1 and 2

Jenn Jansen created this awesome little ATC book for me. She uses only recycled items. The news print is from a newpaper she saved from her trip to Hawaii. The ribbons and foil tape are remnents from other projects.

Jenn has been a great inspiration for me. She keeps me creating with all of her ATC challenges. So far she is the only ATC artist I trade with. I haven't joined any trading swaps yet, but Jenn is very active. She shares with me a veiw of the cards she receives from all across the country. One of her goals is to obtain a card from every state. There are alot of talented people out there who use this small format for creating art. So far posting my cards on this blog is my way of putting my art out there. I hope that you enjoy what I put out. If you would like to start a trade with me, just let me know. The challenge we are working on now is an Easter egg. Oh, the possibilities!
